10 Predictions For Sony's Universe Of Marvel Characters
9. An Entirely Separate Continuity
The trailer for Morbius revealed a number of references to Spider-Man's MCU adventures, not to mention a cameo from Spider-Man: Homecoming star Michael Keaton (as Adrian Toomes). While that may be seen as confirmation that the MCU and SPUMC are one and the same, rest assured that's most definitely not the case.
After spending well over a decade crafting this shared world, there's no way Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will allow movies he has no role in shaping hurt the MCU. While Sony's movies will inevitably reference what's going on with Spider-Man, that doesn't mean they take place in this shared world, and The Hulk won't be hanging out with Venom any time soon!
Instead, think of the SPUMC as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or Daredevil. Shows like those are supposedly set in the MCU, but nothing that happens in them has an effect on anything else, and they very much take place in a "pocket universe." Moving forward, Sony's Marvel Universe will more than likely be exactly like that, and could even boast its own continuity.
