10 Problems With Harry Potter Movies That Nobody Wants To Admit
3. The Seemingly Endless "Item Quest" Plotlines
The absolute worst thing inherent to the later movies in the series, Harry Potter - a highly creative series up until this point - descends into what can only be described as an "item find quest," forcing its characters to hunt down a series of artefacts, one after the other, in the cinematic equivalent of those pointless item hunt quests you often find in bad fantasy video games. Not only do Harry and friends have to seek out a bunch of Horcruxes across the span of the franchise, they're also tasked with hunting down the "Deathly Hallows" - even more artefacts to track down in a series that has already succumbed to relentless item-finding in its later hours. It's not particularly dramatic or interesting, and is more video game-like than novel appropriate. All the "finding" seems lackluster, and completely below J.K. Rowling.
