10 Promising Comic Book Movies That Sadly Never Happened

5. Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman

It€™s a fact that DC enthusiasts will be forced to accept, and one that will forever haunt Warner Bros. Before Joss Whedon signed on the dotted line with Marvel and made The Avengers a household name (and billion-dollar property), he tried to make a Wonder Woman movie. In an interview with Rookie Magazine, Whedon shared his thoughts on the failed film project: "She was very powerful and very naïve about people," Whedon said of his version of Princess Diana of Themyscira. "The fact that she was a goddess was how I eventually found my way in to her humanity and vulnerability, because she would look at us and the way we kill each other and the way we let people starve and the way the world is run and she'd be like, 'None of this makes sense to me'." In other words, this sounds like it would have been a compelling and emotionally complex take on the character. The studio disagreed, and Whedon officially departed the project in 2007, citing "creative differences" as the ultimate reason.
