6. The Good Girl
You could be forgiven for not knowing The Good Girl too well. The independent film was one of Aniston's first forays on the big screen during her second attempt to make it in films (she failed quite miserably before being cast on Friends) and by all accounts, it never quite got the attention it probably deserved. Aniston plays the epitome of the bored housewife, trapped in middle American mundanity and attached to a stoner husband who doesn't realise how little her life actually means to her. Meeting a young new work-mate (Jake Gyllenhaal) she finds herself and her life invigorated when they embark on a steamy affair that features the first blink and you'll miss it snippet of nudity from Aniston's illustrious career. During the motel sex scene, if you master the act of pausing, you can just about see Aniston's breasts, which was something of a shock when it came out, as well as sending pause-button afficionados straight for their DVD copies. This was very much a statement for Aniston - the image of a bored woman looking for something new, and different, and thrilling being a particularly pertinent one after the end of Friends.
