10 Reasons Marvel's Phase 3 Will Be Great

1. Avengers: Infinity War

Since 2010 - with the Infinity Gauntlet's appearance at San Diego Comic Con's Marvel booth - the studio has been teasing the cosmic war storyline of the same name, an adaptation of one of the most well-known and regarded miniseries in company history. When Thanos showed up after the credits of The Avengers, it was all but confirmed. Joss Whedon's announcement that Ultron would be the villain of Avengers 2 simply hammered home what we already knew - Thanos is an act three baddie. That third act, though, is getting divided into two acts of its own, and unlike with DC's Justice League film, this move has potential to be big. The two release dates (May 2018 and May 2019) are only a year apart, with both likely to be on Marvel's signature weekend, the first of May. Plus, unlike the Justice League, The Avengers are a proven commodity. This isn't their first rodeo, it's the third - the grand denouement of a plan a decade in the making. Infinity War parts one and two could conceivably be the two most successful films of all time. Here's to phase three! What are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments.
