10 Reasons Miles Morales Shouldn't Be Spider-Man In Civil War

10. Miles Morales Isn't Iconic

Miles Morales made his Marvel Comics debut in 2011, making him a very new creation with very little in the way of history behind him as a result. The title he stars in sells a fifth of what Peter Parker's does (maybe a fourth on a slow month in Amazing Spider-Man), and despite having a loyal fan-base, what has he done which makes him stand out from any other second tier character from the Ultimate Universe? Honestly? Not much. Miles Morales is not someone known to people who don't read comic books, and while he may call himself Spider-Man, he's no more that than other secondary doppelgängers like Miguel O'Hara or Ben Reilly. Showing off this version of the character in trailers and promotional material would just confuse regular moviegoers, and it's hard to believe that Marvel has spent all this time and effort trying to get the Spider-Man to use just a Spider-Man. There's just nothing iconic or exciting about seeing Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man standing side by side on the big screen with the likes of Captain America and Iron Man. The Amazing Spider-Man on the other hand? That's how you make it a box office hit.
