10 Reasons Mission: Impossible - Fallout Is The Best Ever
9. The Supporting Cast
Ever since J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot production team came on-board, Mission: Impossible has very much been a team-driven franchise. In each film, Ethan has to assemble a team of IMF agents to help him with his impossible mission. This has lead to the introduction of wonderful characters like Ving Rhames' Luther, Simon Pegg's Benji, Alec Baldwin's Hunley, and Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa. Even Michelle Monaghan's Julia gets to come back.
The thing that makes Fallout so great is that it brings back so many of the classic characters from prior installments. Rather than introducing any new IMF agents, Fallout sticks to the franchise's well-established pool of talent and fleshes out their roles.
Alongside the returning heroes, is also Sean Harris as Solomon Lane, the franchise's first-ever recurring villain, getting a chance to sink his teeth into even more nefarious and juicy dialogue.
On top of all of this are the few but incredibly powerful new additions, including Henry Cavill giving a career-best performance as Walker and Angela Bassett tearing through the scenery as Sloane.
While Cruise is very much the star of these films, his supporting cast is just as important, if not more so. And Fallout gets the formula just right, focusing on a handful of returning characters and a few new additions and mining them for the greatest emotional depths the franchise has ever seen.
