10 Reasons Movies Are Way Better Than Real Life

9. You Really Can €œWin€ Someone€™s Love

Romantic comedies will twist your understanding of how courtship is supposed to work, giving impressionable young minds the idea that someone€™s love can be awarded in exchange for displays of insanely-dedicated perseverance or acts of derring-do. The essential fairness of the idea of the Hero €œgetting€ the girl is quite an attractive one. Being heroic and winning the day will enrapture your inevitable love interest into offering up her (it€™ll probably be a her) affections as a visual recognition of your awesomeness.

10. Individuals Make A Difference

The movie world runs on individualism, rather than huge impersonal forces and countless other factors. Protagonists can make a decision to change the world and then set out to achieve their goals, not through becoming an activist or getting involved in some other form of collective action, but through two hours of solitary adventuring. Drug-lords and dictators die, and it€™s implied that some measurable good has been accomplished by the closing credits, while the real world just keeps on being grim and horrible, and no amount of natural justice seems to change it. Peter Shelton hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
