9. Kryptonite Is Not An Instant Win
Supermans weakness to Kryptonite is often trotted out as a weakness that Batman could effectively exploit. But the question of how effective this would be, or how easy it would be to acquire, are important, often overlooked aspects. The availability of Kryptonite is suspect. Its unknown how much there is, as comics have depicted it as either being readily available or extremely scarce. But even when Superman has gone up against villains who have wielded Kryptonite, hes still managed to come out on top. Just ask Lex Luthor how many times hes beaten Superman using the Man of Steels weakness. Exploiting a weakness doesnt guarantee victory. True, Kryptonite gives Batman a leg-up, but thats one advantage over the countless number of tricks Superman has up his sleeve. How much prep time and how readily available Kryptonite is would also have an impact. If Batman has to arrange for Kryptonite to be retrieved from Addis Ababa, he may not have enough time if Superman knows the Dark Knight is after him. The preparation time needed to prepare some Kryptonite weapon to use against Superman could very well be Batmans undoing in this instance. Hed have to make sure Superman is kept busy during this period, because Superman knows Batmans coming after him, he could beat him to the punch and foil his plans in the blink of an eye. Here are three more reasons why this may not be helpful: Metallo, the Kryptonite Man and Conduit. All three of these are Superman villains who are
powered by Kryptonite. Chances are youve heard of Metallo, but you might be scratching your head at the other two. That should show you how effective theyve been.
