10 Reasons Terminator Genisys Isn't As Bad As You Think

5. It Didn't Overdo The Nostalgia

When Terminator: Genisys was first glimpsed, it felt as if they were going to revisit all the major, iconic scenes from T1 and T2 to try and capitalize on the nostalgia market. Yet while there is a nostalgia factor, just as there is in Jurassic World, it's far from the carbon copy many expected - and no, classic scenes are not "ruined."

In fact, Terminator 2: Judgment Day is almost ignored entirely, except for the fact that there's a T-1000 present in the film. And it's not even the Robert Patrick T-1000, so relax.

What Genisys really turned out to be is a direct sequel to The Terminator, revisiting the start of the 1984 movie, but branching off soon after that.

Yes, a couple of the same notes are hit, but it didn't try to jump to all the familiar places in the series. There was no Sarah in the psych ward, no Hasta La Vista Baby, and while Arnold did say "I'll be back" that's an acceptable inclusion.

All in all it's much better than just serving up the exact same movie with younger actors.
