10 Reasons We've Already Given Up On The Amazing Spider-Man 2

2. Stop Spoiling The Death Of Your Best Character

Emma Stone€™s portrayal of Peter Parker€™s blonde bombshell girlfriend Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man was a revelation. She managed to take a character who has always been a little bland in the comics and turn her into a vivacious scene-stealer. Of course, anyone who knows their comic book history realizes that (*spoiler*) Gwen Stacy is killed by the Green Goblin during one of the most famous Spider-Man storylines ever. With that in mind, it€™s probably inevitable that Stone€™s Gwen will be killed off before Marc Webb€™s trilogy is over. But Sony seems to be taking glee in Gwen€™s imminent death in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Last summer, the studio released a wave of production stills showing Stone wearing the same outfit that Gwen had on in the comics when she was killed. In one of the more recent trailers, Gwen is shown falling inside a clock tower, with Spider-Man desperately shooting his webbing after her (and reminiscent of the way she was killed in the comics). At this point, Sony is either unashamedly spoiling its film, or trolling audiences to get a reaction. Either way, it€™s questionable to market a movie around the death of a beloved character (and a critically well-received actress), even if her demise is inevitable.
