7. Marvel Is Way Ahead Of The Curve

Another point to note here is that Marvel are so far into their universe that, in every sense, it would be impossible for DC to catch up. They're trying to, with talk of Parademons, Flashpoints and all the rest, but they'll always be behind Marvel if they pursue this angle. Steppenwolf just isn't all that interesting a threat when, in but a year's time, the Avengers will be taking on Thanos - something that the MCU has been building towards for years.

Point being, no matter how many teases, plot threads and reveals the DCEU now plants, Marvel will always be able to one-up them. They know the routine, and the universe is at a point now where they're allowed to do some really crazy things with it, including killing off a bunch of their leads. DC simply can't compete on that level, and won't be, unless they find a different way of doing so.

Sure, there'll be an audience out there who actively seek out DC on the big screen, but, for the vast majority of cinema goers, attempts to ape Marvel's formula will fall on deaf ears. It's just not something people want to explore again.
