9. It's Probably Going To Be A Retread...Again
My main problem with the first Amazing Spider-Man film is just how much of a retread it is; it repeats the same beats we've already seen in the Sam Raimi films, and even when it branches off in the second hour, it still returns to familiar territory after the credits with the cameo of a shadowy Norman Osborn. It appears that Webb and co. haven't just used the first film as a safe launching pad to try something truly different, given that ASM2 featured both Norman and Harry Osborn in prominent appearances. Though there's little word on quite what they get up to in this film, it's safe to say that it'll probably be fairly similar to what we saw in Sam Raimi's series. Doesn't this just seem extremely lazy and crass? The whole point of this reboot should be to tell new stories, not rehash ones that were told perfectly well only around a decade ago.
