5. A Touch of Emotion

It doesn't take a genius to see that The Dark Knight was a bit emotionally hollow, the only emotional link was blown up as an aid to make a laboured point about chaos and chance. Nolan seemed to get lost in the verbosity of his points and important discussions he wanted to have to remember that these people are emotional beings, and one shot of Bruce Wayne in a darkened room does not accurately represent the level of emotional turmoil a person who just failed to save the love of his life and oldest friend would feel. However, Rises looks to go back to what Batman Begins and talk about the man who wants to be better and the city he cares for, whilst also adding an emotional connection of the people he knows and cares for. Here we have Alfred who opens the original full length trailer with talk of how much he cares for Bruce and Marion Cotillard's enigmatic character being a more successful love interest than previous ones who can anchor emotional threat to the physical one Batman will feel with Bane.
