10 Reasons Why Val Kilmer Is The Most Underrated Batman

3. He Got The Balance Between Bruce And Batman Right

The Dark Knight's history on the big screen has shown us that the majority of those to portray him have excelled in some areas while struggling in others - meaning that they have either been really great at playing Batman or really great playing Bruce Wayne.

While that doesn't mean that their turns as his other half were poor, they were never quite able to get the balance right between Bats and Bruce. Kilmer, however, is the exception to that rule.

Sure, his Batman may not have reached the level of Keaton's broody demon and his Bruce Wayne may never match the charismatic arrogance of Christian Bale's playboy billionaire, but he did do a better job of levelling the playing field between both parts of the role - portraying Bruce and Batman as equally important parts of the character and never tipping too far in one direction or the other.

"You see, I'm both Bruce Wayne and Batman..." the Caped Crusader told the Riddler in the film's closing moments and, thanks to Kilmer's impressive ability to balance both roles, we completely agreed.
