Knock Knock is a remake of Death Game, a 1977 home invasion thriller about 2 young girls who seduce and torture a businessman while his wife and daughter are on a trip. The original starred Sondra Locke and Colleen Camp, both of whom receive executive producer credits here, with Camp making a cameo as a neighbour.

The director is Eli Roth, so there’s plenty of female flesh on display, but while the film does occasionally get nasty, it’s nothing compared to the Hostel series. Roth gets his first A-list leading man with Keanu Reeves, but despite his presence, Lionsgate still sent the movie to VOD.

Like his contemporaries Robert Rodriguez and Rob Zombie, Roth one of the critics’ favourite whipping boys and every picture he makes comes in for an inordinate amount of criticism. “There’s nobody home in Knock Knock,” claimed New York Observer, but people who pay to see movies will likely enjoy it.
