3. Eyeball Penetration - The Sadness
Even self-professed gorehounds might struggle to get through new Taiwanese horror The Sadness - a relentlessly brutal zombie film heavily inspired by Garth Ennis' controversial comic book series Crossed.
In the movie an undead plague is sweeping Taiwan, turning the infected into not only rabid murderers but also rapists and cannibals.
The primary recurring antagonist throughout the movie is a character known only as The Businessman (Tzu-Chiang Wang) - an infected man who relentlessly pursues one woman in particular, Molly (Ying-Ru Chen).
The Businessman stabs Molly in the eye and then follows her to a hospital, where he corners her and, because there's no delicate way to put this, has his way with her gory eye socket.
Director Rob Jabbaz mercifully keeps the camera trained away from the ocular assault itself, but the implication is plenty nauseating. Sadly for Molly, this results in her becoming infected and joining the murderous horde.
