6. Yaz Khan - Extraction II
Extraction II was hardly a movie many expected to get emotionally invested in, and yet, the high-octane action sequel delivered a genuinely jolting death scene at the end of its second act.
Mid-way through the movie, hero Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) and his team - consisting of Tyler's partner Nik (Golshifteh Farahani) and her brother Yaz (Adam Bessa) - are raided by criminal Zurab (Tornike Gogrichiani) and his men in Vienna.
The intense, high-wire action sequence climaxes with Tyler and company being extracted via chopper on top of the city's DC Towers, but just as Yaz is about to board the vehicle, he's shot in the back by Zurab.
Tyler pulls Yaz aboard as they take off, but within moments he dies from his wounds, all while a devastated Tyler and inconsolable Nik - who is also piloting the chopper - can only watch helplessly.
Given that Yaz was developed into a likeable character with a distinct personality in the sequel, it was a legit bummer to see him killed off.
This was amplified by both his sister's pained reaction and the fact that Zurab only learned the heroes' location because his deeply stupid nephew, Sandro (Andro Japaridze), foolishly gave it to him.
