10 Recent Movie Recasts That Worked Perfectly

No one could have called it even just a few years ago, but after Toy Story 4 robbed the franchise of what would have been the perfect trilogy ending, followed by Lightyear failing to capture the imagination of audiences and the announcement of Toy Story 5, you can seemingly class the franchise as one of the many that has overstayed its welcome.

With the latest release, Lightyear underperformed both critically and commercially, with many people being unhappy that the titular voice had been recast.

It was a tough sell to bring anyone in to voice Buzz Lightyear instead of Tim Allen, particularly as this was supposedly the movie from which the famous toy was based, but there was some sound logic behind it. Namely, director Angus MacLane looked at the casting as if he were making a live-action Buzz Lightyear, and its hard to argue that Chris Evans wouldn't be perfect.

Since Lightyear wasn't technically a prequel, the movie wasn't bound to use Tim Allen's voice, and while it's understandable that fans would be confused and even frustrated about the actor's absence, you can't deny the talent and charisma that Chris Evans brought to the role.
