10 Recent Movie Rumours That Were Totally WRONG
3. Kate Is Jo Harding's Daughter - Twisters
Much like those Alien: Romulus rumours, many Twisters fans simply assumed that the new movie's protagonist Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones) would surely be the daughter of Helen Hunt's original female lead, Jo Harding.
More to the point, it was also expected that Hunt herself would make a cameo in the film as Jo, effectively allowing her to pass the torch to a young new lead as legacy sequels are generally inclined to do.
Even though Hunt wasn't announced as part of the cast and wasn't featured in any of Twisters' trailers, many still believed she'd make a secret fan-serving cameo in the film, but alas, it wasn't to be.
Surprisingly, Twisters doesn't even directly mention Jo or her husband Bill (Bill Paxton), though as it turns out, Universal did want Hunt to appear in the film as Kate's mother, but it never came together. This may have been a result of Hunt's own offer to write and direct a Twister sequel being rejected.
However, it's basically impossible to watch the scenes where Kate hangs out with her mother Cathy (Maura Tierney) and not consider that they were almost certainly written for Hunt originally.
