6. Gurney Isn't Killed In The Harkonnen Attack - Dune
You'd admittedly know this if you've read Frank Herbert's source material, but in the first part of Denis Villeneuve's Dune adaptation, Paul Atreides' (Timothée Chalamet) mentor Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin) just sort of... disappears during the Harkonnens' climactic attack on House Atreides.
Amid the carnage we see Gurney running into battle with his fellow soldiers, and that's it. Given that he's never seen again, many unfamiliar with Herbert's novel seemed to assume that Gurney perished in the battle and wouldn't be seen again.
Thankfully that's not the case. Without going into too much detail for those who haven't read the book or seen any of the prior adaptations, Gurney is still alive and will indeed be appearing in Dune: Part Two.
It is admittedly a bit of an abrupt exit for Gurney, but conventional movie wisdom says that a character isn't dead unless you see them die, so it shouldn't be that surprising that he's still alive and kicking.
