10 Recent Movies Let Down By Predictable Twists

After the cerebral experience Jordan Peele gave us with Get Out, horror fans were expecting his follow-up, Us, to be just as haunting. Even though the concept of a family being attacked by their doppelgängers is a simple premise, horror fans were immediately intrigued.

Instinctively, viewers suspected these doubles, which are known as The Tethered, were clones. But since Peele is a horror auteur, we all assumed the Oscar-winning director wouldn't settle for such a flimsy explanation.

But no. The Tethered are just clones. Created by the US government decades ago in an attempt to control society, the higher-ups regarded the experiment as a failure when the scientists couldn't duplicate the personalities. As a result, The Tethered were abandoned underground, where they grew hostile and vengeful.

Not only was this twist predictable, it doesn't really make sense. How could hundreds of millions of clones survive underground for so long? How did the Tethered leader supply millions of scissors for each member? How did no one stumble upon The Tethered before? How did a Tethered never stumble to the surface? By asking the most rudimentary questions, Us' entire premise falls apart.
