10 Recent Movies That Should've Ended Earlier

3. Novocaine

Death of a Unicorn
Paramount

Novocaine is yet another movie that doesn't really know when to end and conjures up a somewhat awkward and definitely unnecessary epilogue.

After Nathan (Jack Quaid) kills psychotic bank robber Simon (Ray Nicholson), he wakes up in the hospital two weeks later and learns that he's been sentenced to six months of house arrest for his chaotic actions throughout the film.

We then cut to a year later, where Nathan heads to prison for a "date" with Sherry (Amber Midthunder), who is still serving a short sentence for her role in aiding her brother Simon's robbery.

Though this final scene is clearly supposed to be a sweet, happy ending for Nathan and Sherry, it does feel like the movie lets Sherry off somewhat easy given that she was complicit in several bank robberies which caused numerous deaths.

As a result, the film ends on something of a clumsy note, when the previous scene - where Nathan heals up in hospital while bantering with his friend Roscoe (Jacob Batalon) - felt like a more natural conclusion.
