10 Recent Movies That Were Sent Out To Die
9. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Netflix's recent horror flop Texas Chainsaw Massacre was originally put into production following 2017's Leatherface, as the start of a new slasher franchise with a modern edge.
This never came to be, though, as Lionsgate lost the rights to the series and various creative differences hindered production once it moved to Legendary Pictures.
When it was finally released in February 2022, dumped on Netflix instead of receiving its 2021 cinema premiere, its fraught creative troubles were painfully obvious, the finished film lacking the scares or ingenuity of what came before.
From poorly written characters to cringe-inducing attempts at social commentary and juvenile humour, Texas Chainsaw Massacre has a lot of gore, but aside from the violence is surely one of the most passionless horror films of the decade so far, passed onto Netflix without care.
