Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was a television show revolving around five teenagers endowed with alien technology to battle the forces of evil.

These heroes were originally led by the Red Ranger, Jason Lee Scott. Over time, Tommy Oliver AKA The Green Ranger joined the team and eventually became their champion, The White Ranger.

Even though it was cool to see Zordon, Alpha 5, Rita Repulsa, and the MegaZord in the 2017 live-action adaptation, Power Rangers, fans were upset Tommy didn't make an appearance.

However, he was mentioned. In the teaser at the end, we see a grumpy teacher at registration, repeatedly calling out Tommy Oliver's name. The camera cuts to the teen's empty desk, with his green jacket visible on the back of the chair.

Although Power Rangers was meant to spawn four instalments with Tommy joining the team in the sequel, that ship sailed after Power Rangers bombed at the box office and Hasbro reacquired the film rights. Another Mighty Morphin Power Rangers adaptation is currently in the pipeline but it will have no connection to the 2017 film.
