10. Matthew McConaughey Will Appear As Norman Osborn (Spider-Man: Homecoming)

The Rumour: In mid-2015, shortly after Spider-Man was confirmed for the MCU, word began to spread that Marvel Studios were negotiating with Matthew McConaughey to play the role of Norman Osborn in the web-slinger's next movie.

Why It Shouldn't Happen: McConaughey is a fantastic actor, but he just feels totally wrong for the part. He's great at being insidiously slick and charming, but won't necessarily convince as a genius scientist, and it'll simply be a struggle to see past the actor to find the character underneath.

How Likely Is It?: The fact there's been no official word almost two years later is encouraging, but it's entirely possible McConaughey filmed a cameo last year and it's been kept firmly under wraps. Neither hugely likely nor unlikely, to be honest. 5/10
