6. Jamie Foxx Had His Eyes Glued Shut For Fourteen Hours A Day - Ray
Imagine having your eyes glued shut for fourteen hours a day, Foxx said on his Academy Award-winning turn as Ray Charles. "That's your jail sentence." Foxx was referring the fact that he was fitted with prosthetic eyelids for fourteen hours a day across the length of the shoot, which cannot have been fun. Though there might have been other ways to achieve Ray's look (or he could have just closed his eyes), Foxx insisted on using the prosthetic eyelids in order to get the best performance. He won an Oscar, of course, so that was obviously the right way to go. The actor suffered from a series of panic attacks during the shoot as a result of said prosthetics, however, which kind of makes you wonder whether it was worth it. Fourteen hours is a hell of a long time, isn't it? When does "committed" become "ridiculous"?
