10 Ridiculously Long Periods Between Movie Character Appearances

9. Al Pacino As Michael Corleone (16 Years)

Ben Stiller Hubie Gilmore
Paramount Pictures

The Godfather trilogy will always have a significant place in cinematic history. The first movie established Al Pacino as a career A-list actor while giving Marlon Brando one of his most iconic roles. The Godfather: Part II then gave Robert De Niro his first Oscar win. Both of the first two films also won an Acadamy Award for best picture.

While there is no denying the quality of those two movies, 16 years later, the trilogy was completed with mixed results. Al Pacino returned to his infamous Michael Corleone character (along with Diane Keaton and Talia Shire). With a rushed script and some questionable performances from certain supporting castmates, The Godfather: Part III remains the only movie in the trilogy not selected to be preserved by the National Film Registry.
