10 Ridiculously Manly Movie Characters Who Drip Machismo
2. Clint Eastwood As Harry Callahan - Dirty Harry (1971)
Only Clint Eastwood could make a guy like Harry Callahan seem cool, anyone today who would call another person a punk would simply come off sounding like a complete weirdo. Callahan is a shoot first, ask questions never sort of guy, a bit of a pervert and a pretty big racist as well. Nevertheless Eastwood's "Dirty" Harry Callahan struck a new mold for the prototypical alpha male: equal parts charismatic and intimidating. These days, expressions like "Go ahead, make my day" have become synonymous with tough-guy cool. As Callahan would say: "Everybody wants results but nobody wants to do what they have to do to get them done." As an inspector for the San Francisco Police Department, Harry is the only person who can preserve masculinity (even if nobody is asking him to do it). He's always cool and collected, even when brandishing a monstrous, long barreled, heavyweight Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum as he whispers his tough-guy dialogue. You definitely wouldn't want to make his day.
