10 Ridiculously Outrageous Video Nasties

8. The Witch Who Came From The Sea

The Witch Who Came From The Sea The Witch Who Came from the Sea was made in the United States in 1976, starring Millie Perkins as the disturbed Molly. After suffering years of sexual abuse at the hands of her father, a local sailor, she spends her adult years getting revenge on the men who frequent the bar she works at. She goes on a murder spree that involves, among other things, widespread castration. This was one of the films that was included in the original list of 72 video nasties, but charges were dropped against it and it was released uncut in the UK in 2006. Some critics were uncharacteristically kind to this film, saying that it was less of a horror film than an indictment of sexual abuse, while others thought it was just as empty-headed and poorly-made as many of the other films of the same genre. But there's one very simple reason why The Witch Who Came from the Sea made it on here: its tagline. If you look at the movie poster, its tagline reads, "Molly really knows how to cut men down to size!" And for the hilariously gruesome pun, The Witch Who Came from the Sea earns one thousand points.
