1. Nicolas Cage - The Wicker Man
Oh, Nicolas, how far we have fell. As you will have gathered from this list, there is good over-the-top and bad over-the-top and this performance definitely sits in the later category. In an alternate universe, this would be one of the funniest film performances of all time, except The Wicker Man is supposed to be a horror film, so Lord knows what script Cage was reading from. A remake of the 70's cult classic was never a good idea, but nobody could envision it would turn out this hysterically bad. Cage could easily have featured on this list several times as his performances in Wild at Heart, Con Air and Bad Lieutenant all warrant inclusion, but one performance per actor meant it had to be this. The eyes are wilder than they have ever been before and the frantic intensity has reached levels never before recorded. By the time the credits roll, he's kicked a little girl, dressed up as a bear and punched a woman (yes, really), gotten chased by some horribly bad CGI bees and had his legs broken. Altogether now: "not the bees, not the bees!"
