3. Al Pacino - The Devil's Advocate
In the later part of his career, Al Pacino has developed a reputation as 'the shouty guy', and sadly, this is mostly true. In between good performances in Insomnia, Any Given Sunday and Donnie Brasco, ever since the late 90's, he's dialed it up to 11 and turned into a roaring monster that is a million miles away from his masterful portrayal of Michael Corleone. In The Devil's Advocate, he plays Satan (who else?) and the script gives him full support to explode with camp pomp, giving us a depiction of the Devil that has been often mocked for its outrageousness. Somehow, it kind of works. Opposite Pacino is Keanu Reaves, so he looks even more manic and intense than he usually would. The performance cautiously toes the line between awful and genius, in the way that it's a lot of fun, but you're also laughing at it, not with it. Pacino's tone throughout the movie is hysterical, and its so over-the-top it's overwhelming and his End of Days rant is the thing of legend.
