10 Romantic Film Relationships That Definitely Wouldn't Last

2. Andrew And Allison - The Breakfast Club

The relationship between Bender and Claire is one thing. It's fine, it makes sense, the bad boy and the princess, we can all wrap our heads around that. But what was with the slapdash union of Emilio Estevez and Ally Sheedy? Why was it necessary? One can only assume it was borne out of a desire to pair everyone off (except for the nerd, of course -- he will be forever alone). But there is little to no build up between the characters, which is puzzling. It essentially begins with Sheedy being so weird that it forced Emilio's character to think about something other than himself for a change, and it culminates with the totally random makeover which undermined everything that her character had been for the entirety of the film. That's it. Hardly a love story for the ages. There's no hint as to why either of these characters are interested in each other at all, except for the fact that they're both attractive humans. Not to be a killjoy, but this relationship will end as quickly and bizarrely as it began.
