1. The T-Rex - Jurassic Park

In Jurassic Park, the owner, Hammond, invites investors and his grandchildren to explore his dinosaur-filled island. But as his grandchildren's jeep approaches the Tyrannosaurus rex exhibit, the electric fence is deactivated, allowing the monster lizard to break free. Instead of showing the T-Rex outright, the king of dinosaurs is slowly introduced to maximise suspense. First, we see a glass of water shaking as the massive dino approaches. Then we see a goat's dismembered leg plop on the jeep's roof after she hurls it across. Only then do we get our first glimpse of the iconic dinosaur.

As the T-Rex headbutts the vehicle, knocks it off the paddock, crushes it, and chases the characters, you can't stop your body from tensing up. (Also, the child actors had no idea Rexie was going to break through the sun roof so their reactions were genuine.)

The T-Rex's reveal could've been devoid of tension if it looked phony, even for a second. But by utilising a masterful mixture of animatronics, robotics, and CGI, the scene leaves you constantly on edge.

It goes without saying that the Tyrannosaur's introduction isn't just the standout of the franchise but one of the most frightening movie moments ever.
