10 Scariest Final Shots In Horror Movie History

1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre cuts straight to the bone. Lacking the sheen of other horror flicks at the time, its finale depicts blood-soaked and almost definitely psychologically-broken final girl Sally escaping the clutches of Leatherface and the rest of the Sawyer family after being invited over for the worst dinner party of all time and escaping on the back of a passing pick-up truck.

In response to losing his prey, Leatherface begins to swing his chainsaw wildly against the sunset, choreographing the most unnerving dance sequence ever put to celluloid in the process. The image itself is weirdly haunting, but it's the cut back to Sally looking on in utter horror which cements it as such a bone-chilling image.

The final shot however depicts the dance itself in all its glory, letting it play out for half a minute before cutting to black, leaving the impression that Leatherface could do this terrifying dance for all of eternity.
