10 Scariest Horror Movie Clowns
3. The Clöyne - Clown
Pulling together a film that's suitably skin-crawling as well as darkly humorous, Clown actually manages to tightrope the thin line of comedy that utilising the clown trope has to have without sacrificing any of the juicy stuff. The clown in this scenario is lovable dad Kent, who just wants an entertainer for his sons birthday party to make it that extra bit special. Said clown, however, pulls a fast one and cancels last minute, leaving Kent to use a costume he's found in an old basement and get the job done himself.
Only, after performing his goofy duties, Kent finds himself fused into the outfit from red nose to rainbow wig with no hope of getting out again. Coupled with some bloodthirsty cravings and the grotesque legend of The Cloyne, and Kent soon realises he's donned the skin of a demon and must eat some kids to sate the thing before he'll be free of its grasp. Oh. Oh no.
The transformation of Kent into The Cloyne is deftly done, and works as a great character in a good movie that capitalises on the claustrophobia of being trapped in a skintight prison. In any case, fancy dress just got a whole lot scarier.
