10 Scariest Star Wars Moments
2. Han Frozen - The Empire Strikes Back
There is something oddly unsettling about seeing Han Solo frozen in carbonite. First off, there's the carbonite itself, which renders the savvy smuggler immobile, stuck in time, unable to escape. Then of course there's the events around the freezing, which sees Luke defeated (both physically and emotionally) and the Empire victorious in beating the Rebel leaders down.
Seeing Han, always cool, calm and able to get out of anything, incapacitated like that is just the cherry on top of the film's hopeless conclusion.
On the plus side, the scene did give fans the brilliant "I love you"/"I know" moment, which is funny, but also makes the whole uncomfortable freezing thing all the more disturbing and worrying.
Will Han be okay? What will happen to him if he's frozen too long? What will Jabba the Hutt do to him? The kicker for people watching Empire when it first came out was that they'd have to wait three years to find out. Ouch.
