10 Sci-Fi Movie Endings That Get Worse The More You Think About Them
8. The Next Batch Is Coming -- Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990)
Joe Dante's Gremlins 2 did the unthinkable by taking the Gremlins action to the city, turning up the silly, and coming out the other side with its reputation intact. A masterclass in science-fiction comedy horror, The New Batch sees Gizmo reunited with his one-time pal Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) and his girlfriend Kate Beringer (Phoebe Cates) in the state-of-the-art New York City high-rise the Clamp Center. The evil green gremlins are unleashed once again, this time with access to the skyscraper's laboratory, and grow themselves wings, brains and, in one disturbing case, boobs.
By the film's conclusion, the gremlins have been melted into mulch in the building's lobby and all is right again, save for a last-minute stinger that sees Forster (Robert Picardo), the building's chief of security, about to wed the newly female gremlin, who escaped the genocide in the lobby.
This may seem like a throwaway gag in the moment, but it presents a very real potential for human-gremlin hybrid babies. Add to this that the US business world now knows about their existence, and its only a matter of time before the military and every exotic pet-owning redneck wants their piece of the action, unleashing these horrors on the entire country.
