In Phoenix Forgotten, a group of teenagers notice a mysterious light in the sky in their hometown of Phoenix. When they go out to investigate it, they vanish without a trace. 20 years later, a video tape of their findings is discovered, revealing the truth behind their disappearance.

Phoenix Forgotten may have bombed at the box office but it is still an intriguing story since it's based on the largest and most reported UFO in recent history. On March 13th 1997, thousands of people saw lights in the night sky in Arizona, Nevada, and Mexico. Even though most UFOs are only visible for a few seconds, these objects, which are known as The Phoenix Lights, were visible for three hours. The fact that these lights appeared near Area 51, (a source of countless conspiracy theories), was seen as further proof that these mysterious lights were extra-terrestrial in nature.

Even though strange lights reappeared in the area in 2007 and 2008, they were explained away as military flares. However, there has never been a proper explanation for the Phoenix Lights incident that occurred in 1997.
