5. The Entity
The Entity is about a mother called Carla Moran who is inexplicably raped by an invisible being. As the attacks grow more frequent and violent, Moran seeks counsel from two parapsychologists so she can understand how to stop these paranormal encounters.
The Entity's story was inspired by a woman called Doris Bither who claimed she was sexually assaulted by the spirits of three men. According to her testimony, two of the entities pinned her down while the third one would force himself upon her.
In the film's epilogue, it states that the attacks continued but became less violent and frequent over the years. Although it's not mentioned in the epilogue, Bither moved five times, hoping the ghosts would stop following her.
One of the parapsychologists that investigated the case, Barry Taff, had his team investigate Bither's house to find any evidence of a supernatural force. While there, Taff claimed he and his group witnessed 'corpuscular masses of light' form into the shape of a human's upper body before vanishing. Two years after the film was released, Bither claimed the encounters stopped altogether.
