10 Scrapped MCU Scenes We Desperately Wanted To See

2. Thor Summons Lightning From The Nine Realms - Thor: The Dark World

Thor: The Dark World is commonly agreed to be the MCU's worst film, a dull melange of forgettable characters, awkward comedy and also-ran action sequences.

Frustratingly, an early concept for the movie's climax saw Thor dispose of villain Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) by summoning lightning from all Nine Realms to annihilate him.

However, this was ditched after the filmmakers realised it gave Jane, Darcy (Kat Dennings) and Erik Selvig (Stellan SkarsgÄrd) nothing to do.

And so, the finale instead sees Thor and Malekith slugging it out while the scientists push some knobs to teleport the two through the realms, ending with Malekith being crushed by his own ship.

Given that this could've awarded Thor a supremely badass moment in a movie largely bereft of them, it was a huge mistake. Plus, overestimating how much audiences care about Jane and Darcy in particular was a huge mistake.
