Before he was a superhero bigwig heading up DC’s entire cinema output, James Gunn was directing a horror-comedy about an evil alien worm.

Slither from 2006 begins with a meteorite landing on Earth, bringing with it an otherworldly parasite that possesses the body of a wealthy man named Grant Grant. Yep, that’s his name.

The alien quickly takes over, transforming its poor victim into a vile creature with wiggling tentacles and murderous intent. It’s up to the local chief of police and Grant’s wife to stop this monster before the whole town becomes infected.

Despite being warmly received, Slither was not a box office hit. However, those who did go and see it would have been treated to this hidden gem once the credits had rolled.

Grant is eventually stopped when he gets filled up with propane and then shot by his wife, scattering his remains all over the place. In a post-credit scene, a cat wanders up to a chunk of his body, inadvertently becoming the parasite’s new host.

Well, you know what they say about curiosity and cats…
