10 Secret Post-Credits Horror Movie Scenes That Were Absolute Genius
5. The Old Woman And The Candle - Insidious
A post-credit scene doesn’t always need to be long and complicated. Sometimes, it just needs to be scary as heck, and that’s exactly what viewers of Insidious got if they stayed right till the very end.
The opening scenes of 2010’s Insidious introduced the audience to its world of demonic possession through a ghostly figure called The Bride in Black. She’s not the main focus of the movie, which ends with the revelation that main character Josh has been possessed, but she is the final face viewers see before they go home.
After the end credits roll, the Bride once again appears, this time carrying a candle. She blows it out, plunging the screen into darkness and leaving no doubt that the spirits are now in charge.
This scene runs for a grand total of about three seconds, which might have annoyed some folks who missed their train to catch it, but bookending the story with the same ghoul that started it all was a great touch.
The Bride would play a bigger role in the sequel, so it could also be viewed as a sign of things to come.
