10 Secret Subplots Hidden In Movies

9. Norman Osborn "Lives" - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The Amazing Spider-Man 2's sloppy end product was the outcome of extensive executive meddling, resulting in even entire characters being cut out entirely - namely Shailene Woodley's Mary Jane Watson - and a planned plot twist which revealed Peter Parker's (Andrew Garfield) father Richard (Campbell Scott) to have faked his own death.

But one subplot which remains somewhat embedded in the final cut of the movie is the fate of Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper), who dies due to a genetic condition early in the movie, and which ultimately leads his son Harry (Dane DeHaan) down a villainous path.

It was reported in the weeks following the film's release that a scrapped post-credits scene was to reveal that Osborn's detached head had been cryogenically frozen and was being stored at Oscorp.

After a visit from the shadowy Gustav Fiers (Michael Massee), Osborn's eyes would pop open, setting up his leadership of the Sinister Six in the planned - and also scrapped - third film.

But immediately following Osborn's death in the movie proper, we can actually see doctors tending to his body, one of whom is seen wheeling away a cryogenic storage tank that looks exactly like the device containing Norman's head in the images from the scrapped scene.

And so, while that silly post-credits scene was ditched, Marc Webb still managed to sneak a decapitation into his PG-13 superhero movie, though only the most eagle-eyed observers would ever have a hope of noticing it.
