That's some pretty potent stuff. If you find the need to relax amongst all the genuine terror these underrated films will be putting into you this Halloween then there's no better alternative than Tucker And Dale Vs Evil, the best deconstruction of the slasher genre this side of Cabin In The Woods (and a lot funnier to boot). Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine play the pair of unlucky hillbillies who, much to their dismay, chose the same weekend to do up their new, slightly creaky log cabin in the woods as a bunch of rambunctious teens do to go partying in that self-same forest. The poor youngsters do start to drop like flies, but it's nothing to do with Tucker and Dale; they somehow keep getting into Darwin Award-worthy accidents which, somehow, consistently look like the doing of our heroes. The comedy is absolutely pitch black but absolutely hilarious, with those same tropes spoofed in Behind The Mask being played broadly for laughs from an audience who's fully aware of who their loyalties should lie with in a horror film, but often end up rooting for the killers. Plus any film that puts Firefly's Tudyk and Reaper's Labine back on our screens, especially with Katrina Bowden from 30 Rock in tow, is bound to be a blast.
