3. Jean And Scott Live - X-Men: Days Of Future Past
There's been plenty of examples of unexpected character deaths on this list, but now lets go the other way; a duo who were shocking brought back to life in 2014. On top of bringing a much loved comic book story to the big screen and tying together the series' two casts, X-Men: Days Of Future Past saw Bryan Singer write the franchise's more questionable entries out of existence (essentially anything he wasn't involved in). The specifics of this new chronology will be expanded upon in X-Men: Apocalypse, but for now we know that Origins: Wolverine and The Last Stand never happened; Wolverine ends up in the hands of Mystique, not Stryker, and the big deaths Brett Ratner threw in fans faces have been undone. There had been rumours that Famke Janssen and James Marsden might appear in the film, but those whispers didn't prepare us for the shock of seeing both Cyclops and Jean Grey alive and well at Xavier's School. Seen through the eyes of a mournful Logan it reminds us just how long this series has been going without a proper reboot (suck it Spider-Man). Now the characters are alive, what's the future hold for them. Days Of Future Past felt like it was going to be a final goodbye to the original cast, officially passing the baton onto the First Class team, but given how so much effort was put into brining two of the original gang back can we expect another film with the old generation? A proper attempt at the Phoenix saga maybe?
