10 Shocking Movie Deaths That Came Out Of Nowhere

4. Phil Lamarr - Pulp Fiction

Phil Lamarr might be best known for his voiceover work on Futurama and the Metal Gear Solid games, but there's one iconic moment above all others that blew cinema audiences away, right in the middle of Tarantino's masterful Pulp Fiction. Lamarr plays Marvin, who is riding in a car with Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) when Vega turns around to ask Marvin a question, and bang...his gun goes off, sending most of Marvin's brain splattering over the backseat of the car. Though this comes totally out of nowhere and has an inherent shock value, it's also played extremely well for laughs, as the two express shock at what has happened, and Jules naturally gets mad as Hell at Vincent. The scenario that follows, with Winston Wolf helping the pair clean the car, makes the whole thing all the more funny.
