10. The Emperor Survives

Emperor Palpatine got lobbed down a shaft of the second Death Star. He€™s dead. End of. Right? Within these pages, it was revealed that the Emperor himself, the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, had actually survived the events of Return Of The Jedi. The cloak-wearing evildoer achieved this state of not-deadness using a technology that has since become part of the very fabric of the film franchise €“ cloning. Before we had learned that the original Stormtroopers were all clones of Jango Fett, the Emperor had ensured himself an infinite lifespan by keeping a few copies of his wrinkly old self on the sly. Years after Return Of The Jedi, Luke sensed a great disturbance in the Force, was sucked into a Force-based anomaly and found himself face to face with the Emperor - alive and well, with his mind and consciousness transferred into a new clone body.
