5. The Sith Live On
At this stage, you could be forgiven that the prophecy of the Chosen One was completely bogus. Yes, in killing Palpatine, Anakin Skywalker had brought balance to the Force. The galaxy was indeed at peace and the Sith were vanquished. Just, not for very long. In fact, the Expanded Universe tells us that the Sith movement very much survived the conclusion of Return Of The Jedi. Human female Lumiya was the one to take on the mantle of redeveloping the ways of the Sith, using what shed learned from Vader and Sidious. Before his demise, Vader effectively groomed Lumiya for command, putting her through various Imperial training programmes and sending her on covert missions against the Rebel Alliance. She also did missions for Palpatine. With them both out of the picture, Lumiya rebuilt. She found another young aspiring evildoer and enforced a classic Master and Apprentice structure based on the Sith traditions she had learned from her Imperial employment. In The Force Awakens, well likely see Adam Drivers Kylo Ren rebuilding some semblance of Sith structure in a similar way to Lumiya. Whether he'll meet a similar fate is harder to call.
