7. Raise the Titanic
Raise the Titanic is a film so calamitous that one of its producers even remarked that "it would have been cheaper to lower the Atlantic". The premise for the film is woefully tacky, depicting US intelligence forces who discover that precious raw minerals were on-board the Titanic when it sank, and so go about raising it. These aren't just valuable raw minerals, though, they will be used as the power source in a weapon that can take down any missile entering US airspace, which sparks an international incident with the USSR, who believe they have a claim on the mineral themselves. It's absolutely daft but also pretty damn offensive, really, trivialising the deaths of those on-board in favour of a silly espionage plot. What's more, the film had reportedly 17 people working on its script, and so it's no surprise that it ended up being nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay and Worst Supporting Actor at the inaugural Razzie Awards.
